Let us learn what it means to build on a new foundation. That also means we need to destroy the old foundation, whatever it is made of, denominational sand, New Age thinking, worldly thinking, whatever it might be, and replace that foundation with the bedrock of Jesus Christ. As an analogy, you can liken that to erasing a chalkboard of false mathematical equations with the correct mathematical equations, otherwise you are easily confused when you have old information mixed with new information, and are tempted to use the old information you are so comfortable with. Your mind is hindered from being renewed when you are fed error and poisonous doctrine mixed in with the truth. So be sanctified, be set apart from the thinking of the world.

Once it is established in your mind that indeed the scriptures are the very words of God, and you know God is not a liar, then you can trust that whatever event God says happened, then it happened. The word of God has relevance to our lives and has more meaning than just confirming that some historical event happened. In other words, it would be irrelevant to me whether Noah and the flood actually happened or not if I did not believe Jesus is God, or had no confidence that these are the words of God. Whether I believe in Noah or the flood or not is irrelevant to whether I am going to spend eternity with God or not. Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. Tony asked a question about false prophets, those men who say they heard from God. Nobody today is getting direct words from God today. Those who prophecy today are proclaiming truth from the scriptures that have now been closed. The canon has been closed. Anyone proclaiming words of the Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses or the other cults is not a prophet. Not only is he not a prophet, he is a deceiver.

Stacey asked about why Jesus was tempted when he is God and is never tempted. Bob cleared up her misunderstanding. Someone can be presented the temptation to sin, but if you are perfect like God then that really is not a temptation to you. Sin was offered to Jesus by Satan is what is being said here but Jesus is not ever tempted by sin that he should sin nor does he tempt anyone to sin. We sin by our own evil desires.

There is nothing that has overtaken you except what is common to man. Depression and addictions of all kinds are common to man. That does not mean everybody will be addicted to alcohol or cocaine, but the root problem is the same. Brokenness and sin manifests itself in people in different ways. No matter what condition you are in, Christ Jesus is who you really need.

Are you depressed? What do you think causes depression? It really stems from a thinking problem. You are thinking about the bad things that happened yesterday, or even projecting what life will be like tomorrow, and your feelings naturally follow. At times, such depression will lead to other thinking issues and other areas of addiction, such as alcohol or cocaine. And what do people naturally do? Synopsis

Bob George continues sharing from the key passage of Romans 1:16-17. In the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed that is by faith from first to last, and is the power of God unto salvation for all who will believe. When you believe the gospel, accept Christ as your life, you are able to communicate with the living God, to know His love and to know and love Him. There are only two types of righteousness, self righteousness, which is really no righteousness at all, and God’s righteousness. The righteousness of God is revealed by the Holy Spirit, who is drawing all men to Himself.

If a man thinks he has righteousness of his own, by what he does or fails to do, then he is only comparing himself with others. Only two things can occur.
