Synopsis

So many people call in and ask questions about salvation. They are often confused by what they hear in their particular denomination or various preachers on television. Again, it is so important to rely on the holy spirit to reveal truth to you through the scriptures He has given to us through the prophets and apostles, who were eyewitnesses, when Jesus was alive walking on this earth. Ultimately, that is where truth has to come, from the Spirit of God in Jesus, who Himself is God in the flesh.

So often we hear from people that you can lose your salvation or that you have to do something to keep yourself right with God, or you have to be obedient to the law so as to keep in God’s grace or to do some religious practice to get more grace. All of that is simply not true. If anyone says you can lose your salvation then they do not know what salvation is. If anyone says that salvation depends on what you do then he does not understand salvation. Classic Christianity – New Years P5 (01-01-21)

Synopsis

When you think of all the things spoken by the prophets, that were fulfilled in Christ, and how sovereign God is, that everything He has said has come to pass, who, in their right mind, would not come to come and choose life? The star stooped over the place where Jesus lay, just as it was spoken through the prophet. Jesus shall be called Emmanuel, and we see the transfiguration, where a voice from heaven says, “Listen to him. This is My Beloved Son”. God spoke to Joseph and Mary through dreams, and what was spoken through the prophets was fulfilled, such as Jesus would be called a Nazarene. Numerous miracles were performed through Jesus, as the prophets of old said he would do when he came. John the Baptist was visited in prison, and Jesus told his disciples to report these things to him while he was in prison. Jesus himself, at various times said that he would die, but on the third day, be raised again. Then, after Jesus’ resurrection, he appeared to over 500 people, many at that time who were still alive. Classic Christianity – New Years P4 (12-31-20)

Synopsis

Simeon prophesied that Jesus will cause the rising and falling of many in Israel, a sign that will be spoken against, so that the hearts of many will be revealed. There is something about mankind, who is born spiritually dead, that he is naturally opposed to truth. Truth sounds as foolishness to him. You can talk about God all day long, and people seem to be okay with that. People talk about all kinds of religions, and people are okay with that. But once you talk about Jesus or the truth of His word, there is an aversion, a pulling away, or even quite a reaction with false accusations.

In today’s world, hardly anyone wants to hear truth anymore. The bible and prayer have long been kicked out of the public sphere. Situational ethics and evolution have been taught in our schools. Seminaries are teaching things that ought not to be taught. Even bible societies and bible translators are not required to uphold the bible as the inerrant word of God. Jesus warned about this when he spoke about the tares among the wheat.

Synopsis

Many callers ask questions that reveal the lack of understanding of what salvation is. Bob shares from the scriptures to help people understand what salvation really is. Many people think you can lose your salvation. If you think that, then you do not really know what salvation is. Salvation is being saved from the consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. Many other people think salvation is getting your sins forgiven. Others think that you have to ask God for forgiveness when you sin. All such questions means that people have not understood the totality of the cross, what Jesus meant when He said, “It is finished!”, or that salvation is life, of being made complete in Christ.

Salvation is receiving new spiritual life. Getting sins forgiven is something Jesus alone did, when He shed His blood on a cross. He will not shed his blood again, and as we read in Hebrews, there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood. Jesus’ death on a cross was a necessary preparation for life to be given. Jesus is Prophecy Fulfilled for Your Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P26 (12-08-20)

Synopsis

As we continue in our study, we now turn to look at a more magnified look at the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. We have a prophecy from the psalmist David, in Psalm 22, some thousand years before the event of his crucifixion ever occurred. Through this prophecy we gain insight into who Jesus is and why He came. The disciples of Jesus, both Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, record what they observed actually happen at the foot of the cross, concerning Jesus last words, as he hung there on a cross for you and me.

Recall also what Jesus told his disciples after his resurrection, as he walked on earth for many days.

Luke 24:44
⁴⁴ He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

This alone tells you that Jesus said he fulfilled what was spoken in the Psalms concerning himself, and how that had to happen that way. In other words, this was just not some tragic unexpected event that happened to Jesus.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

As the Thanksgiving season is here, consider how much we have been freely given. If you are in Christ, you are free. You are free from the law. You are no longer under the law of sin and death, the law with it’s demands that you could never keep. Sin was your master and owner. In Christ, you are no longer a prisoner of the law. You were once locked up until faith should be revealed. Has faith been revealed to you? Can you now call God your Father because you have become a child of God, a new creation in Christ?

Even before the law was given, sin was in the world. All of us were born dead spiritually. The law was powerless to save you nor could it. We were already weak in our natural selves, being dead already. We keep doing what we know we ought not do and we do not do what we know we should. And when we fail, there is guilt under the law.
