Vine and Branches

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P28 (04-12-21)

Synopsis

So we are to avoid those who teach things contrary to sound doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ. Instead, we are to rely on the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, to reveal truth to our innermost being, so we can walk in the newness of life. For it is for freedom that Christ set us free. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Does your heart yearn to know the truth? Consider the parables of the lost coin, the lost sheep, and the prodigal son. What do these stories tell us about the heart of God, His love and acceptance of us, His compassion and understanding of us in our weak and dead condition. He seeks out the sinner that he might restore him back to Himself. Such is the love of God. Indeed, we love because He first loved us. He initiated His love to us first, and we respond to that love.

So the Holy Spirit teaches us about the love of God, that we may walk as Jesus did. Jesus walked in perfect love. God is Spirit, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Why Did Jesus Forgive You?

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P43 (02-01-21)

Synopsis

Many people have been exposed to much religious teaching. You can be raised in a denomination, and you heard that Jesus died, was buried and rose again. Even if just from the few holidays celebrated every year, by Christians and non-Christians alike, such as Christmas and Easter, you hear those things about Jesus, and maybe even accept that as being true. But have you asked more probing questions as to why he died, why he was buried and why he rose again?

If you were brought up in some religious background, you might have heard more about the cross, with much emphasis on sin and the confession of sin, and the need to be forgiven of sins, but little, if anything at all has been said about the resurrection. Why is the resurrection of Christ Jesus so vitally important to salvation, or for the proper understanding of the gospel message? So if Jesus died on a cross, then so what, or then what? Those deeper questions need to be asked, and the full understanding of what Jesus Christ accomplished for you needs to be understood.

Jesus Gives Life to Those That Believe in Him

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P576 (10-02-20)

Synopsis

Listen as people call to get answers to their questions. Every now and then, you have a caller who asks, “What must I do to be saved?” or says “I am having doubts about my salvation.” Many people have doubts about their salvation for any number of reasons. And wherever you are right now, we all start out the same way, without the Spirit of God living in you. That is we are born dead spiritually and are in need of new life.

When you are reading the gospels, you are reading a record of the life of Christ while he was here on earth. What was his destiny? He came to die on the cross and give you and me eternal life in Himself. In order to do that, He had to prepare us and show us what our condition was. He had to show us we are sinners. If we do not see ourselves as sinners, what would the cross mean to me? He had to show us we are dead. If I did not know I was dead, why would I need life? The teachings in the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Our Sabbath Rest Today

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P509 (02-06-20)

Synopsis

Often times people have called into the Classic Christianity radio program with questions to help them know how to apply teaching or to get clarification on teaching they have heard that seems to conflict with what the Lord is beginning to teach them. Others simply call to thank Bob for the teaching of truth that has helped them to walk free of legalistic teaching, and want to encourage Bob to continue teaching truth.

More often than not, Bob will explain more thoroughly about the New Covenant we are under. Often times people will read something out of the gospels, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, or the book of Acts, and struggle understanding what it means. The starting point to understand truth is to first of all be born again, having the Spirit of God living in you. Then as you read God’s word, you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you.

The common mistakes people make are to read one scripture verse, taken out of its context, and try to explain or make up what it means. That is called leaning on your own understanding, and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Obedience to The Law

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P495 (12-05-19)

Synopsis

So often in today’s religious world, people are burdened under legalism. They may or may not have understood the gospel of God’s grace. They might possibly heard only a half gospel, incorrectly thinking that they must ask for forgiveness or even keep asking for God’s forgiveness but have not heard about coming to Christ for life. Sadly, many churches will teach people to keep short accounts with God. Even if a person is born again, they got under legalistic teaching, and you got under teaching, that if you keep on sinning, God is going to turn His back on you. Many people think they have backslidden when that is truly not the case. The word backslidden is not even in the scriptures.

A man has walked away from the knowledge of the love of God. Yes, his behavior is sinful, but he did not lose fellowship with God. God never left him, who is in Christ and Christ is in him. The Holy Spirit is sealed in you for the day of redemption. How can you go boldly to the throne of grace if you think God is mad at … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Salvation is Not by Works

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P16 (12-02-19)

Synopsis

From the book of Romans, in the rest of Romans chapter 4, Paul is contrasting law and grace. The law condemns a person as a sinner, but grace sets a person free. Grace is Jesus. He is the only one who could take away the cause of death, which is sin. Having no sin of his own, being God in the flesh, he laid down his life to pay the price of death for sin.

That is what the apostle Paul described as reconciliation. Reconciliation is an accounting term, where a person writes off a debt that is owed. It would be like a man who owed a tremendous amount of money and then went bankrupt. The merchant pays the debt and writes it off the books. That is what Jesus did.

Now to be clear, the cross is how God reconciled the world to himself. That is preparatory for salvation but it is not salvation. If salvation was getting your sins forgiven, then that would be universal salvation. But that is not salvation. Salvation is the receiving of new life.

Jesus did not stay dead, God raised him from the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
