Jesus is God the Word of God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P642 (06-11-21)

Synopsis

A very common misunderstanding is the concept of confession and repentance of sin. A lot of erroneous thinking comes from denominational influences. Many of us grew up in a Catholic or a Protestant type of church, so you probably have heard people say you need to confess your sins to a priest or to God. But very few people have really checked into the word of God to see if what is being said is true or not. Take a look at what Jesus said prior to His ascension back to heaven while he walked on this earth for some forty days. He said He came to prove the world wrong about what they think sin is, of what people think they need to repent of.

John 16:7-11
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Jesus is the Initiator

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P5 (06-02-21)

Synopsis

When you read the Old Testament, you get a better understanding and visual picture of why we need a New Covenant. In my growing up, the ten commandments were taught as something to live by and memorize. I am not sure what people still think about the ten commandments today, because in my state, the ten commandments were ordered to be taken down from the capitol grounds, and I would hear from church-going people that Roy Moore needs to stand down and obey the law of the land. But the point is, the ten commandments is something closely tied to the conscience that God has created in mankind as something that is holy, righteous and good. In Muslim countries, I have heard that if you steal gold out of a store, because they do not have such items locked up in a case, then you can get your hand chopped off. That is overly harsh punishment to me, but the point is they would not have such a law if they thought stealing was not wrong.

Many churches used to, and maybe still do, teach the ten commandments as holy, righteous and good.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Life in Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P638 (05-28-21)

Synopsis

We have this struggle between our flesh and the Spirit more than we like to admit or even realize. When you think of sin, as God defines it, as anything that does not come from faith is sin, how many times are we anxious? Many of us have been incorrectly taught that you need to confess your sins to God to keep in fellowship, but that is not biblical. Jesus took away our sins at the cross, without which there is no forgiveness of sins, and He did that before we even asked Him to. He is not going to shed His blood again, and has chosen to remember our sins no more. The sin of the world that must be repented of, and the only sin, is unbelief in Him. So it is not faith to ask for what in Him you already have, the forgiveness of sins. Again, that forgiveness was provided before you and I were ever born physically into this world. In Him is the redemption, the forgiveness of sins, as we read in Ephesians 1:7. Are you in Him?

If you are a child of God, you became a child by receiving what God came to offer you, His very Holy Spirit of life to be placed in you, the same life that raised Jesus from the dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Follow Jesus to The Cross and Resurrection

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P622 (04-02-21)

Synopsis

People often ask questions from scripture, and get focused on a word or two in a translation that gets them confused. The key is you hold onto truth in scripture you know are true, and do not let less clear scripture conflict with what you know is true. For if you are in Christ Jesus, you know the gospel you have come to understand and have believed in. Instead, it usually means you need to check it out with another translation and also read more of the passage in its entire context.

An example of that is the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10. Is it really about judgment, as if we are going to be judged, or punished by God, for the bad things we have done in our flesh? No. God already dealt with sin once and for all when He shed His blood on a cross. The gospel has made that clear, where other scriptures clearly reveal that, as in Hebrews, where Jesus promised us that He remembers our sins no more and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

That passage of scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10, is talking about an appraisal, or the receiving of rewards, of hearing God say to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant!… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Propitiation - Jesus Took Away the Sins of the World

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P617 (03-18-21)

Synopsis

Common questions people ask from time to time are what is redemption, atonement, propitiation and trinity. If you have grown up with any sort of religious background, or have opened up your bible to read it, you have probably heard or read these words before. Words have meaning, but they must be used in their context in which they are written. Keep in mind also that translations are not always accurate, so if something is unclear, check it out in a Hebrew or Greek concordance. There is an interlinear bible online that can be helpful on that.

But, first of all, rely on the Holy Spirit to teach you truth. The biblical meaning is what is important, even if a dictionary seems to indicate a contrary meaning. There is enough cross-referencing of scripture, with the Holy Spirit living in you, to reveal to you God’s intended meaning. Without relying on the Holy Spirit to teach you truth, how would you know what any man is saying is true or not? Just because many theologians tell you what something means does not mean it is correct. If a pastor tells you to quote 1 John 1:9 to get your sins forgiven, or that Jesus atoned for your sins, then he is teaching error.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Love With Jesus Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P10 (03-01-21)

Synopsis

When you read in the scriptures about all the different eyewitnesses of those who saw, heard and touched Jesus, what conclusions do you come to? You can only come to the conclusion that Jesus is either a nutcase, a liar, or an imposter, or He is indeed what He claimed to be, God in the flesh. If even archaeological evidence confirms the events, times and places that are recorded in the scriptures are true, and that what is written down by the prophets came true precisely as they said, then I would ask where does the evidence lead? What probability is there that all these over 300 prophecies, even over a thousand years, long before the events occurred, by people of all walks of life and different periods in history, all came true, what reasonable conclusion would you come to? The overwhelming evidence is why we believe that Jesus is God and His word is true. Jesus even said if you cannot believe me by what I say then believe me based on the miracles you see. Nicodemus, a leading Pharisee, even said, “Who can do the things Jesus does unless God were with him?”… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
