The Only Solution to Death is Life and the Only Life Available to Man is the Resurrected Life in Christ Jesus

When we think of death, and if you have lived long enough, you have probably been to a funeral service or a viewing and have seen your loved one, your father or mother, your uncle or aunt, in a coffin. This physical death is a consequence of the sin that occurred in the garden of Eden. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and so death came to all men (Romans 5:12). But this physical death is a picture of a more devastating death, called spiritual death, which every man born in Adam is born with. Adam was born alive spiritually but chose sin and died. All of us born in Adam are born dead spiritually with the option to choose life. All mankind is now born dead to God, and that dead state continues on even while they are alive physically. Quit Sinning Against the Knowledge of Truth!

As Bob has said numerous times, all of us have been taught error from various denominational persuasions of men. The scripture that continually comes up in certain circles of Christendom is in Hebrews 10:26-31. People often think that to mean that if I do those dirty dozen or those nasty nine sins, deliberately, then I am going to hell. Many get fearful of this passage because they do not have proper understanding, because they do not understand what Jesus accomplished at the cross. People should be fearful, if they are sinning against the knowledge of the truth and after receiving the knowledge of the truth. The truth is people do not understand or realize he is talking about the sin of unbelief. He is talking about sinning against the knowledge of truth.

People have grown up under, or have heard, all kinds of teachings of men, whether Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian or Pentecostal or any number of denominations out there. Now on a matter of such eternal importance as salvation, sadly the message is not proclaimed clearly or even accurately. You may have heard all kinds of phrases like, “Once saved, always saved”, “Sacraments are necessary for salvation”, that salvation is a process that you have to go through, “You have to be baptized in order to be saved.” or that “Salvation is getting your sins forgiven.” It is so sad that the gospel of salvation is not proclaimed clearly and accurately as it ought to be! Not only that, even when it is proclaimed on one Sunday it is undermined by double-talk when a preacher teaches 1 John 1:9 out of context and uses it to tell people to ask God to forgive them when they sin so as to keep short accounts with God and to keep in fellowship with God. So many people call in and ask questions about salvation. They are often confused by what they hear in their particular denomination or various preachers on television. Again, it is so important to rely on the holy spirit to reveal truth to you through the scriptures He has given to us through the prophets and apostles, who were eyewitnesses, when Jesus was alive walking on this earth. Ultimately, that is where truth has to come, from the Spirit of God in Jesus, who Himself is God in the flesh.

So often we hear from people that you can lose your salvation or that you have to do something to keep yourself right with God, or you have to be obedient to the law so as to keep in God’s grace or to do some religious practice to get more grace. Have you ever just redefined sin as something else than what it is? You call worry a healthy concern, or adultery an affair, or homosexuality an alternative lifestyle. Have you ever lied or stolen and knew that it was sin? We can rationalize sin away by redefining it, but it is still sin. But being born into this world we are still born under the law of sin, and that sin caused our death. So then we hear about the law, or the ten commandments from church, and we think, “Hey, I can obey that!” Well, you have just lied to yourself. For it is not very long that you find yourself even coveting after something your neighbor has. And you read that coveting is sin. Then you find yourself coveting all the more. Synopsis

When we think of what Jesus did for us at the cross, we have much to be thankful for. We were born spiritually dead, born under the law of sin and death in weakened flesh. Unless we are out from under that law of sin that caused our death, then we will remain in a state of eternal death, forever separated from the Lord, miserable, wretched and without hope. But God in the person of Jesus Christ rescued us, reconciled us to Himself, having paid the just requirements of the law for us. Our sins were judged. The verdict was guilty. The punishment was death and Jesus took it all.

Jesus’ shed blood on a cross is what prepared the way for life to be given. Now that sin and death is out of the way, and He has risen from the dead.
