Baptism and the Lords Supper

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P602 (01-28-21)

Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A very good example of this is the false practice of confessing your sins before taking the Lord’s supper so as to not be taking the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner. Another example is this teaching that there is an age of accountability for salvation, that if you are under a certain age then you are not accountable to God for sin. That kind of question is in the same category as asking the question, “What about the heathen that has never heard?” And another question that often comes up is in regard to this supposed movie projection in heaven that presumably everyone’s sins will be projected so that all people and even angels will see. That simply is not true. There is no basis for that from the clear understanding of the gospel, with passages that clearly explain that He … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Your Sins Have Been Forgiven by God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P36 (01-13-21)

Synopsis

Scripture instructs us to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith. What is the attitude of our hearts? God came to reveal to us the attitude of our hearts, the condition of our soul. He did this so we might see our utter wretchedness and seek a Savior in Jesus Christ, that we might receive His righteousness, for we never had any of our own.

But what is our tendency in our humanity? Instead of looking at our sins in light of perfect righteousness, we compare ourselves with others saying, “I am not as bad as that woman over there.” As the apostle Paul says, he who compares himself with others is not wise. So we need to ask ourselves probing questions. For example, looking at the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13, of who God is, since God is love, how well are you doing in the love department? If God, who is love, is alive living in you, then what kind of nature should be observed coming out of you? So, the types of questions to be asked are: “Is God alive … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Classic Christianity and Growing in Grace

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P594 (12-17-20)

Synopsis

All of us need encouragement in this fallen world we live in. As Jesus warned us so many times, let no man deceive you. All of us have been deceived one time or another and are all subject to deception. Many of us grew up in some denomination or cult even, and some of us came to the knowledge of the truth. We came to realize God’s word is truth, and anything contrary to that is to be rejected as from men. Not all men are deliberately deceiving you. Many are simply passing on what they heard from others.

How grateful we are for those many people, the born again believers all over the world, who have understood God’s grace, the totality of the cross, of being made complete in Christ and salvation through receiving new life through the resurrection of Christ Jesus, who has offered all men the Holy Spirit to be placed in those who believe.

So listen now as various callers call in to either encourage Bob or receive instruction on things they have heard that just does not ring true to them, and are coming now … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is the Creator of All Things

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P16 (11-09-20)

Synopsis

You can grow up in church all your life, and be quite religious. You can sit in a bible study among people who identify themselves as Christians. You may have never even heard someone identify themselves by Christian before. Many today do, but the Christian identification has lost its meaning because there are so many now who identify themselves as Christian but have no clue of who Christ is and what He came to do. My mother-n-law used to think anyone born in America is a Christian. You may have heard the very first time, the words, “born again”. These kinds of “Christians” seem to have their own vocabulary, like doctors or lawyers do. You may have even been asked the question, “Are you saved?” What kind of question is that? That is so foreign to your understanding.

Well, think about the disciples who ate and drank with Jesus Christ. What did they think about Jesus? Many people said that he spoke like no other man, that he had authority from some other place to speak like he does. Others say he is a great teacher or a … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Forgave You Once For All Sins

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P585 (11-05-20)

Synopsis

As people grow in Christ, you will have questions. Someone might ask, “I thought you would stop sinning once you are saved. Am I not saved then, since I am still sinning?” I think if you thought that, you will find out very quickly that that cannot be true, that you stop sinning. You will begin to sin less, but none of us will ever walk in complete faith in God, and that is the essence of sin. Anything that does not come from faith is sin.

So it goes back to understanding what Jesus accomplished at the cross, when he shed his blood once and for all, and about our fallen nature we inherited in Adam, and coming alive in Christ Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, he took away forever our sins, and the sins of the entire world, from the eyes of God. He took the full weight of death required for all sin. That is why when we are in Christ, there is no longer any condemnation for sin. If you are not in Christ, that means you remain dead in your sins because you … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Believers Are The Church

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P575 (10-01-20)

Synopsis

In general, people call in because they want to know what truth, to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some may be infants in Christ, and others may be believers for quite some time, but have been wandering around in erroneous teaching, and are just beginning to grab a hold of what truth is. Even topics as basic as Baptism and the Lord’s supper. Even those that rightly understand that baptism, that of water, does not save you, but is a ceremony, do not understand the Lord’ supper.

There are those who are genuinely confused over baptism, and that can vary depending on your religious upbringing. But, as you read scripture, it would become very clear to you. Both John the Baptist and Jesus clearly tell us about the fact that the water baptism that John performed was to be replaced by the spiritual baptism that Jesus alone accomplished for us, placing into the body of Christ the moment you, by faith, came to accept his death, burial and resurrection for you.

The Lord’s Supper, sadly, has been more perverted than anything else. Countless many have … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
