Jesus Sets You Apart

Classic Christianity – New Years P4 (01-02-20)

Synopsis

Simeon prophesied that Jesus will cause the rising and falling of many in Israel, a sign that will be spoken against, so that the hearts of many will be revealed. There is something about mankind, who is born spiritually dead, that he is naturally opposed to truth. Truth sounds as foolishness to him. You can talk about God all day long, and people seem to be okay with that. People talk about all kinds of religions, and people are okay with that. But once you talk about Jesus or the truth of His word, there is an aversion, a pulling away, or even quite a reaction with false accusations.

In today’s world, hardly anyone wants to hear truth anymore. The bible and prayer have long been kicked out of the public sphere. Situational ethics and evolution have been taught in our schools. Seminaries are teaching things that ought not to be taught. Even bible societies and bible translators are not required to uphold the bible as the inerrant word of God. Jesus warned about this when he spoke about the tares among the wheat.

How did this all come about? This, of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

His Name is Jesus

Classic Christianity – New Years P3 (01-01-20)

Synopsis

As you read the familiar story of the account in Luke of the birth and early life of Christ, what grabs your attention? The Spirit continually teaches us through His word, even from passages so familiar to us, as we stop and ponder His word, and ask the Lord to reveal to us what He wants us to see today. When you think of how the Spirit is at work to reveal truth to men, do you see how He works throughout the ages to reveal Himself to men? How has He revealed Himself to you? Today, He has revealed Himself to us by the Son He has given.

What do you think of the shepherds in the fields, who had angels visit them, and then Mary, through whom the angel Gabriel told her of the Spirit to be placed in her, to be called Immanuel, God with us? Then you have the Spirit speak to Simeon about a prophecy from the prophet Micah, that both the Jew and the Gentile will be saved the same way, through this small child Jesus, who will be the light to the Gentiles. The Work God Requires

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P444 (5-30-19)

Bob George RadioJohn asked what works is, wanting clarification on James 2:14. Bob explained that you need to base your theology on the totality of the New Covenant, that salvation is not based on our works but on the finished work of Jesus Christ alone, we are not in the fruit inspection business, and our role is to simply abide on the vine. Bob also shared about the basic problem of religion. Andy called for Bob’s thinking on an evangelism technique that uses scare tactics, showing a dramatization of what hell would look like. Bob would not use such a tactic for it is a wrong motivation to come to Christ and presents salvation as a fire insurance policy where a person really does not come to Christ for life. Janice called for clarification on Hebrews 12:7-11, and particularly wanted to know what discipline means. Bob said that discipline is not punishment, but training and discipleship, where instruction in truth is received that sets you free.

John called to ask Bob about James 2:14, concerning what works is. He also called to get help clearing up doubts he has if he is saved. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

The World’s Sin is Unbelief in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Bob George – Callin P406 (01-18-19)

Bob George RadioWelcome to Classic Christianity Radio with Bob George. Let’s now join Bob George as he offers practical biblical insights as he helps people experience faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ.

Bob receives calls from several people about asking for forgiveness. They are hearing from friends or those in church that say you need to ask God for forgiveness whenever you sin. Bob explains how this kind of thinking comes from denominational teaching and often from a misinterpretation of 1 John 1:9. Bob explains the false teaching of the Gnostic that were there at the time these scriptures were being written and that group, along with the Judaizers, is the group of unsaved people the Apostle John is initially talking to. In essence, John is saying: “If you ever come to your senses, and I doubt if you ever will, but just in case you do, Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, he is faithful and just to have forgiven you of your sins and to have cleansed you of all unrighteousness. Bob says that for anyone to believe both that your sins have already been forgiven by … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
