Jesus Wants Your Faith to be in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P19 (07-06-21)

Synopsis

Faith is one of those words used or heard but do we know what it means? Hebrews 11 defines faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This “hope for” is not a “hope so”, but a firm trust in what God has guaranteed us in His Son. We put our trust in what God accomplished for us in Christ Jesus, in what his death, burial and resurrection accomplished for us.

But not everyone has heard or understood what Jesus accomplished for us. You can know that Jesus is God, and that he lived, died and did certain marvelous things, but you have not put your faith in what He has given you, which is eternal life. I once was asked, “Would you like to be saved?”. I had never heard such a strange question before. “Saved from what?” I knew about Jesus dying on a cross. You see a picture of that in the church I grew up in all the time. And I knew something about Jesus rising from the dead. You at least hear about that in a holiday called Easter.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is The Mediator of the New Covenant

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P11 (06-16-21)

Synopsis

Faith is Understanding Jesus Forgave You Completely!

This New Covenant we are under today is a covenant of grace. When you think about what is the eternal inheritance that Jesus bought and secured for us, we cannot help but say, “Thank you, Jesus” and “Praise be to God for His marvelous grace.” This grace provided for us a new heart, the heart of God that is full of His love and compassion that we can access and allow to flow out of us. We have this unconditional acceptance, where we are free to fail without any condemnation, and can then boldly go to the throne of grace to instruct us, guide us into truth to correct our harmful behavior, with such tender-loving care. This is all part of this wonderful personal relationship with the living God, who rejoices over us, rejoices when we rejoice, and who delights in us. And to think that God, who created the entire vast universe with His spoken word, has such wonderful thoughts concerning me! He even knows every hair on my head.

Last, we have this wonderful promise of being eternally forgiven.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

In Christ Jesus You Are Eternally Secure in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P10 (06-15-21)

Synopsis

Faith is Walking in Truth!

God has given us very great and precious promises so that we may participate in the divine nature. This was made possible by the New Covenant, that those who come to faith in what Jesus alone accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection, are now under and have received, which is Christ Himself, alive living in you. In Christ, we have been given a new heart, with unconditional acceptance, a personal relationship with God, and being made a forgiven person forever.

Just as there is nothing you can do to earn salvation, there is nothing you can do to lose salvation. There are no conditions put on you for God to accept you. The scripture simply says you are accepted in the beloved. Jesus took away the sins of the world, never to be seen again by God. Sin is what caused our death, and there is no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. Jesus shed His blood once and for all, so Jesus is not going to shed His blood again on a cross. Therefore, there is no more sacrifice for sin.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Forgave You on The Cross

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P641 (06-10-21)

Synopsis

A very common question asked is, “What about 1 John 1:9?” People ask this because they are often taught that this passage is written to believers, telling believers to confess their sins to God when they sin. What they mean by that is that when you sin, to stay in fellowship with God, you keep short accounts of sins with God by asking God to forgive you when you sin. But is that true? Have you read all of 1 John to discern its context? And if that is true, what people teach about 1 John 1:9, then Jesus did not take away all our sins, and, if that is so, then He would have to come back again to shed His blood again, every time we sinned, because according to Hebrews 9:22 that is what He would have to do for sins to be forgiven? And that would also make Jesus out to be a liar who cried out at the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30), which in Greek, is the word, Tetelestai, meaning “Paid in full”, which is really saying that God took away the sins of the entire world, all the way back to Adam and forward to eternity, by eternally paying the price of death for sin, once and for all, for sins that we committed and earned the penalty of death for sin (Romans 6:23).… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Life in God Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P6 (06-07-21)

Synopsis

Have you ever asked, “What is the purpose of the law?” If you turn to Galatians 3:19-24, you have your answer. Why is this important to know? Bob George uses several illustrations to help explain this. He used illustrations of a hammer and a mirror. And, if we know what our role is, as ministers of a New Covenant (2 Corinthians 3:6), not of an Old Covenant, then we have a sure foundation in truth. This presumes you understand the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant and that the New Covenant replaced the old one (Hebrews 8:7-9).

So a hammer is made for the purpose of building a house. In the hands of a carpenter then it can build something useful. But in the hands of a murderer, it can be used to beat someone in the head with. So there is nothing wrong with a hammer, but how it is used depends on whose hands it is in. So what do people do with the law? They use it as a means to obtain righteousness, or right standing, before God, and then use it to beat people in the head with, who they see are not conforming to the standards of the law.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Says Thank You to God Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P640 (06-04-21)

Synopsis

People have grown up under, or have heard, all kinds of teachings of men, whether Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian or Pentecostal or any number of denominations out there. Now on a matter of such eternal importance as salvation, sadly the message is not proclaimed clearly or even accurately. You may have heard all kinds of phrases like, “Once saved, always saved”, “Sacraments are necessary for salvation”, that salvation is a process that you have to go through, “You have to be baptized in order to be saved.” or that “Salvation is getting your sins forgiven.” It is so sad that the gospel of salvation is not proclaimed clearly and accurately as it ought to be! Not only that, even when it is proclaimed on one Sunday it is undermined by double-talk when a preacher teaches 1 John 1:9 out of context and uses it to tell people to ask God to forgive them when they sin so as to keep short accounts with God and to keep in fellowship with God. So in reality, the message proclaimed often by a Protestant denomination is not any different than a Catholic saying you must go to a confessional booth to get your sins forgiven.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
