Sharing the Gospel With Loved Ones

As believers, we have a great desire for our loved ones to hear the gospel, receive the message and believe so they can experience all that God wants for them. If a mother is dying then you at least want to know if you will see your mother again in heaven with you, since the amount time remaining for her to even grow in Christ is limited or impossible. Bob and Amy George had the privilege to lead Amy’s dad to Christ a few weeks before he had to go back to Russia, under unbelievable obstacles and circumstances. That is so wonderful to hear and read about in Amy’s book, Goodbye is Not Forever. And, in Bob’s book, Classic Christianity, Bob shares about how his dad came to know Jesus also. God’s grace is Amazing Grace!

What About Tithing and a Second Baptism?

People who have grown up in any number of protestant churches will inevitably have heard teaching on tithing. A pastor will tell you that if you do not tithe then you are robbing God. Or a pastor will say if you tithe you will be blessed by God for riches. If you have been to some charismatic churches, you may have also heard teaching from a pastor that says you need to have a second baptism of the Spirit. Some will even say that if you do not have the evidence of speaking in tongues then you are not saved? There are people who have been to these churches and are beginning to wonder if what they are saying is true. That is why many people call into the program to get clarification on these things.

First of all, truth is found not in what some pastor says. We have the scriptures that were written down through the prophets for the Old Testament and the apostles for the New Testament. For the New Testament to be written down, they had to be written down through men who were eyewitnesses of the baptism, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, through men who spent time with Jesus, who walked and talked with him, heard what he had to say, and saw all that was performed through Him, and who observed events that the prophets foretold would happen in regard to the promised Messiah.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

What Does it Mean to Enter God’s Rest?

All of us will face burdens or go weary in this fallen world we live in. Entering God’s rest does not mean we will not face hardships or difficulties in life. It does not mean we will live a completely sinless life, for we still have this struggle with our sin-indwelling flesh that is in conflict with the Spirit, who lives in us now. But it does mean that we have someone to go to, who loves and accepts us unconditionally and wants to give us abundant life. Jesus says He will never leave me nor forsake me and that He remembers my sins no more. That means, as a child of God, I am no longer under the law, under an Old Covenant, but under a New Covenant of grace, and I can boldly go to the throne of grace for help in time of need.

Be Sure to Enter God’s Rest Today!

As we ponder over Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4, what is this “Sabbath rest that still remains“? What does it mean to “enter God’s rest” and “rest from their works just as God rested from His”? As we read these passages in Hebrews, it is referring back to a time in the history of the Israelites, in Numbers 13-14, where God instructed them to enter the promised land, a land flowing with milk and honey. God had promised this land to them. Everything is prepared and ready. They do not have to do any work to enjoy the fruit of the land. God also said He would destroy the enemies before them.

As we read the story, you may recall that only Joshua and Caleb later entered the promised land because they believed God. Everyone else wandered in a wilderness for forty years until all of that generation died off, for God had sworn that they shall never enter His rest because of their unbelief. As people are growing in grace, they have questions. Oftentimes, they read passages of scriptures like Hebrews 6:4-6, that they just do not understand it yet. So they call up on a program such as this, or if they are around like-minded believers, where they are free to ask questions in order to grow in grace, they get guidance from mature believers, who rightly divide the word of truth. Many times people have not grabbed a hold of truth because there is something missing in their understanding. Of course, if you just got saved yesterday, you are still on the milk of the word, and that is where you are at. You have not had much time in the word of God yet. So it is helpful to have pastor-teachers that teach truth, help out in our understanding.

Let Truth set you Free and Learn to Walk in Grace by Faith

As a new believer, you will tend to have more of a struggle in overcoming sinful habits, and that is not unusual, as you are just now on the starting line of having your mind renewed. Even as you mature in Christ, you will continue in that process of having your mind renewed until the day you meet the Lord. We will all continue to battle the flesh, and God knows our weaknesses and tendencies. We are all reminded to guard our life and doctrine closely and take heed that we do not fall, and to be gentle and humble toward others, as we ourselves could easily get caught up in any sin ourselves. By allowing God to change us, our thinking and attitudes of heart, our actions will be in accordance with who we are as a child of God, and our emotions will follow. You will no longer be miserable but experience the fruit of the Spirit God wants to produce in you and through you. Learn to trust the mercy and grace of God.
