Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P629 (04-29-21)

Synopsis

Common questions keep being asked generation after generation. It seems the same old deception and misinformation, by even well-meaning denominational persuasions of men, gets passed on, and has to be addressed every generation. You will hear people say in the charismatic churches, for example, about the need to receive a second baptism of the Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. How would you answer that?

How well do you know God and His Word that you could explain why that cannot be true? We are in the end times, and we have been since Jesus rose from the dead, and He told us to not let any man deceive you. Yet people are so accustomed to readily believe whatever a pastor, such as from a denominational persuasion they identify with, says as true. Few people seem to get into the word of God for themselves. Recall what the apostle Paul remarked concerning the people of Berea. They diligently studied the scriptures to see if what even the apostle Paul said was so. Paul commended them as being more noble than all the rest. We should do likewise.

Of course, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Resurrection

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P18 (03-17-21)

Synopsis

As was prophesied through the prophet Jeremiah, and explained more thoroughly in the book of Hebrews, we live today under a new covenant. Jeremiah and Jesus both lived under an old covenant. While Jesus was on this earth, He lived under an old covenant while speaking about a new covenant to come. He initiated a new covenant, or new will, after His death on a cross. Just as we have a will today that only goes into effect after the person living dies, so too with this new covenant Jesus spoke about, that also the writer of Hebrews explains.

The old covenant was one of law, like a tutor to those under the law until Christ should come to fulfill the law. No man could fulfill all the just requirements of the law. This law required perfection and if anyone failed at just one point, he was guilty of breaking all of it. The reason for that is because anything that does not come from faith is sin, and the wages of sin is death. Even the inward thoughts and attitudes of man are sin, such … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Victory Over Depression - Book

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P604 (02-03-21)

Synopsis

Oftentimes people grow up with religion and reject the reality of Christ Jesus. They associate Christ with things spoken in context of preachers speaking things that are simply not true. Instead of checking out what is being said as being true or not, we see no reality in it, so we reject the religion, but sadly we also reject Christ, whom we associate with in our minds. But one day, we see the reality of a changed life in someone else, who has the Spirit of God living in him. So we ask, what is it in him that is different? What kind of life does he have that I do not? Then you hear the practical wisdom he shares from God’s word. Your heart is moved. You see the practical wisdom and how people are able to walk in joy and peace. People have come to Christ that way. Christ in you was a light that shined in a dark world, but truth was made known concerning Christ, of the gospel that saves, and he believed and put His faith in Christ.

But as believers, as a child of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

God Hears Your Inner Thoughts

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P555 (07-23-20)

Synopsis

People often call to get answers on topical questions of life. Sometimes when they go to a certain denomination to visit, or have been there awhile, things just do not make sense. What is this about receiving a second baptism of the spirit or having to speak in tongues in order to be saved? People begin to ask those questions, especially as they begin to grow in the Lord. As you read God’s word, where Paul discusses this topic of tongues in 1 Corinthians, you understand that what people are doing is promoting error and teaching error.

First of all, you cannot get more of the Spirit than what you already have. When you have Christ in you, you have all of Christ and He says He will never leave you or forsake you. The Holy Spirit is sealed in you for the day of redemption. He does not leak out so as if you need to get more. And if He, who is eternal, is in you, then how can you lose what is sealed in you? You cannot lose salvation, who is Christ in you. And when you … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Came to Give You Life

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P551 (07-09-20)

Synopsis

It takes time to grow and mature in Christ. Oftentimes, when you have been a Christian awhile, you will hear common questions being asked by many people, generation after generation. Certain verses or passages of scripture, when not understood in its context, in the totality of the cross, of being made complete in Christ, being under a New Covenant, not under an Old Covenant, you are likely to have a faulty interpretation of scripture. The key to understanding, first of all, is to be born again of the Spirit. Assuming that is so, then you have the mind of Christ, and the Spirit will lead you into truth.

The problem that many people have is that they rely on denominational persuasions of men. They listen to too many preachers out there, and do not get into the word of God themselves. Ask the Spirit of God to reveal the meaning of the word of God to you. He is the only one you can rely on to reveal the truth, the meaning of the word of God, to you.

Oftentimes, a young believer will come across a passage, that somehow … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Faith is Believing What Jesus Has Done

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P531 (04-30-20)

Synopsis

Many times people called on the Classic Christianity radio program to get clarification and understanding. One of the most common things people call in about is that they are confused about this deal on forgiveness of sins. When you sin, are you supposed to confess those sins to God and ask for forgiveness? What is sin? Are there different categories of sin, such as positional and what about the future sins I do? These questions reveal a serious lack of understanding of something so vitally important as to what salvation is.

Listen as Bob converses with Martha in answering such questions, explaining to her what Jesus already accomplished, that his death took away the sins of the entire world. Jesus entered into our death with us, so we can enter into His resurrected life with Him. Jesus death on a cross is preparation for life to be given, and it is not faith to ask God to forgive you of sins for that is something God already did. When He sent Jesus to shed His blood on a cross, that was only done once and will not be done again, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
