Only by Faith in Jesus Not by Works

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P16 (06-29-21)

Synopsis

I cannot emphasize this enough! If you do not get a handle on the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant you will be confused the rest of your life in regard to biblical interpretation. You have no framework in which to interpret scriptures. It would be like putting scriptures in a hat, and pulling them out one by one and trying to make sense of it with no surrounding context. You read an Old Testament scripture that says if you do not forgive your brother from your heart neither will I forgive you. So, without understanding that was written in the context of a Jew under an Old Covenant agreement still in existence then in contrast to a New Covenant we live under today, you think you have to get your sins forgiven, or keep yourself forgiven through continually confessing your sins to God. You put yourself right back under the law that God says in a New Covenant that you are no longer under, that you have been set free from because you are now led internally by the Spirit of God who … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Completed The Work

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P15 (06-28-21)

Synopsis

Have you ever pondered the sacrifice Jesus made for you? He came to this earth, demonstrated He is God by the things He said and did, and eyewitnesses, the apostles, confirmed that by writing down what they saw and heard. But the ultimate demonstration of His love is He laid down His life for us, only to be raised up to new life again, for our sake. No greater love is there than that.

Unfortunately, many people today do not understand all that Jesus did. Even people who are members of mainline denominations have not understood. Why are people still sacrificing today so as to keep in fellowship with God, to ask God to forgive them when they sin? Or to go to a priest or a confessional booth to get their sins forgiven? When Jesus shed His blood on a cross, and Jesus being God in the flesh, did His one time sacrifice on a cross take away only some sins but not all sins? John the Baptist certainly did not think so. He identified Jesus as the promised Messiah to Israel, and testified that He … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

You Are Forgiven Once For All

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P14 (06-23-21)

Synopsis

So many people go through life hanging onto what they have been taught, whether right or wrong. If something is repeatedly shared since your youth, and you do not stop to ponder your life and your ways, you may die in that state. What a sad and heart-breaking way to live, either lost or without joy in your life, not experiencing the abundant life God had promised. Have you just stopped to think about your life? Why are tears streaming down my face? Certainly you can have tears when you lose a job or your own son suddenly dies under circumstances that should not have happened. But why have tears when you are seemingly at the top of your game, at the height of your career, adored by men? What is this emptiness that I feel? What is wrong with me? If I am believer, I know certainly there is nothing wrong with God or the words that Jesus spoke about concerning the abundant life He promised, that I should be experiencing?

So you read a passage of scripture that says “You shall know the truth and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

The Law is Like a Mirror

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P13 (06-22-21)

Synopsis

I had a conversation with a relative in regard to why Jesus had to die. Her answer was something like, “If such and such did not happen, He would still be alive today.” I think she did not understand what Jesus came to do for us.

John 10:17-18
17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life – only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

When you ponder over that, you realize there was a plan in the heart of God from the beginning, even before the foundation of the world, to rescue mankind from the fall in the garden of Eden. The entire Old Testament was planned out by God so that man might recognize his condition of spiritual death, that sin caused your death and therefore you are in need of life. The entire New Testament was planned out by God so man can … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Taken Away Forever

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P12 (06-21-21)

Synopsis

People say, “God is the same yesterday, today and forever and everything is the same.” No, everything is not the same. God changed things when He ushered in the New Covenant. There was an Old Covenant that was replaced. Under the Old Covenant, you had rules and regulations, with the ten commandments along with dietary laws, that say if you do this, then God will do this. There was a temporary covering for sins, a temporary sacrificial system of shedding the blood of bulls and goats that could never take away sins. There were promises under the Old Covenant, mostly physical in nature, of having their physical needs provided for them, and to be God”s treasured possession, if they just obeyed. But the law was never added so man could be made right with God. It was added so mankind may recognize his sinful state, his condition of spiritual death, like a mirror to see dirt on your face, so he may seek a Savior. It was a system that was to only last until the time of Christ.

So what changed? When there is a change … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
