Respond in Faith to Jesus Christ

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P10 (05-11-20)

Synopsis

So this faith is our communication with the living God who lives in us. You can trust someone you have come to know and who loves you perfectly. This is how we are designed to live, in dependence upon God. Jesus modeled that dependent attitude, when He being God came to this earth in the appearance as a man, and chose to live as a man so that we, who are not God, may know how to live. So He tells us, “as the Father sent me, so I send you. ” So is He telling us to do what Jesus did, to raise the dead? No, that is something only God does and can do. But He is saying to us to have that same attitude that is in Christ Jesus, the attitude that says “I live in total dependency on the Father. I do nothing on My own initiative, but I do what the Father has told me to do and I say what He has told me to say.”

When we were lost, we were into all kinds of dependencies, but misplaced dependencies, drugs, alcohol, and all kinds of things.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God Jesus Rewards You Through Faith in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P9 (05-06-20)

Synopsis

Now, let us delve into what faith is. Let us explain with illustrations, of what it is and what it is not. Let us look at the example of Abraham’s faith and Mary’s faith. Faith is like the engine of a train and we being the caboose. Faith is what directs our path and the caboose follows. The caboose never pulls the train. It has no power to do so. Neither do we muster up faith to tell God what to do. No, we simply let faith lead us and we follow in complete trust.

There are other illustrations but one thing for sure is that faith is not a feeling. Feelings do not pull us. Faith does. It is the substance of things not seen. Feeling is not a substance. It is stupid. It only responds predictably to what is put in the mind. So when Jesus tells us not to worry, He is really telling us to guard what we put in our mind and to guard what we hear. Is what we hear based on truth, on what God has said, or is it the voice of the enemy, of Satan, who deceives you by saying, “Did God really say?”… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Having Faith Hope and Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P3 (04-22-20)

Synopsis

This faith, hope and love is the triplicate that sticks together like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the Trinity. Indeed, Christ Jesus is our only hope, who initiated this love to us so that we can enter this blessed hope in which we now stand. We enter in by faith. The same faith that we exercise so that Christ Jesus came to dwell in us by His Spirit is the same faith in which we live day to day. Christ in you is your only hope of glory. That same faith that you had exercised to be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light is the same faith God wants us to exercise every day. Several passages of scripture makes this clear. Colossians 2:6-7 and Philippians 2:12-13 are examples. Faith in Him produces His work in and through you and me. We, as a branch, are bearing the fruit of that life, but we, as a branch, have a function in that life. It is to be available for the work of the Lord that has been worked in us to work out of us.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith is a Responder to the Grace of God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P2 (04-21-20)

Synopsis

So these three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Although we cannot produce love, in Christ we have been given the privilege to participate in the divine nature. We participate in the divine nature by abiding in Christ, trusting him to do through us what we could never do, as Jesus explained to us in John 15. So this love is to reach out to people, to share the message of Christ, to serve in the spiritual gifts God has given us, to serve the body, to give a cup of water in the name of Christ, and any of those things God has led us to do by the Spirit He has given us.

We have been made a new creation in Christ, so this labor is prompted by the love of God that has been poured into our hearts, imploring every man to be made complete in Christ. We have this hope in us, this promise of God, that when we are absent from the body, we are present with the Lord. This life is temporary, so our eyes are fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Don't Set Aside The Grace of God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P62 (03-31-20)

Synopsis

As you read about the conversion of Paul in Damascus, of his former way of life, and how he met the risen Lord, and how devoted he was to get the message of the good news out, what does that compel us to do? As you read along in Romans 15 and Acts 20-21, you realize that Paul, in so doing, met all kinds of trials and tribulations, and many times just one blow away from death, yet he was not dissuaded to proclaim this gospel. Listen along with the audio, as Bob George shares the heart of Paul and his devotion to Christ.

How devoted are we to share this message of good news, of life in Christ Jesus? If you are in Christ Jesus, knowing that when you die, you will be absent from the body and present with the Lord, and that those who are not yet in Christ, are headed to a place called hell, that if they were to die tonight, they will be forever separated from God where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12, 13:42,50; 22:13, 24:51, 25:30), where the fire never goes out (Mark 9:43), what kind of urgency do you have to reach out to as many people as possible, to give them the gospel of eternal life?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Be Grace Sanctified

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P60 (03-25-20)

Synopsis

As believers, we are being sanctified even as we are sanctified. Sanctified means that you are set apart for the purpose God created you. God made you into a new creation, a child of God, with His Spirit living in you. We have the mind of Christ so in our thinking we are to think differently than the world, who knows not God nor has the Spirit. So we are already sanctified. We are to walk by faith in accordance with who you are, a child of God.

God also wants us to grow, to allow ourselves to become sanctified in this world we live in. God wants to renew your mind so you live in accordance with His good purposes for you. So we are to think soberly and guard our minds.

Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
