The Star Shines on The King

Classic Christianity – New Years P5 (01-01-21)

Synopsis

When you think of all the things spoken by the prophets, that were fulfilled in Christ, and how sovereign God is, that everything He has said has come to pass, who, in their right mind, would not come to come and choose life? The star stooped over the place where Jesus lay, just as it was spoken through the prophet. Jesus shall be called Emmanuel, and we see the transfiguration, where a voice from heaven says, “Listen to him. This is My Beloved Son”. God spoke to Joseph and Mary through dreams, and what was spoken through the prophets was fulfilled, such as Jesus would be called a Nazarene. Numerous miracles were performed through Jesus, as the prophets of old said he would do when he came. John the Baptist was visited in prison, and Jesus told his disciples to report these things to him while he was in prison. Jesus himself, at various times said that he would die, but on the third day, be raised again. Then, after Jesus’ resurrection, he appeared to over 500 people, many at that time who were still alive. And during that time, Jesus spoke to two men on the road to Emmaus, and told them, beginning with Moses, all that would happen, as spoken through the prophets, was fulfilled in him.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is the King

Classic Christianity – Christmas P5 (12-25-20)

Synopsis

Are you seeking meaning and purpose in life? This time of season can either be filled with excitement, as you see children open up gifts, or it can be a great time of depression for others, a time of loneliness and despair. To some extent it depends on where you are in life? Did you lose your father during this time? Does it bring back memories of the time you were unemployed and saw no hope for the future? Many may fall in that category. But just as many reflect on their childhood and think of all the fun times going down a hill on a make-shift sled. Others simply look forward to the surprise of seeing a brother or sister open a gift you spent thinking about all year to give them, and seeing a smile on their face.

To the Jews in their day, the excitement was going to the annual feast, the Passover commemorating the day God rescued them from bondage out of Egypt. That was Jewish history and culture, but it was also a God-ordained holiday. Prophesied in a dream to Abraham, that his people would be enslaved some 400 years, but afterwards God will send a deliverer.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Be Devoted to One Another in Love

Thanksgiving P2 – Bob George (11-23-20)

Synopsis

Turn to Romans and read along as Bob explains its meaning. The book of Romans is a book of contrast between law and grace. The purpose of the law is for man to recognize his sinfulness, his condition of spiritual death, that he might seek a Savior in Jesus Christ. There is so much that the apostle Paul explains concerning the law; its purpose, it’s inability to make one righteous before God, it’s ministry of death to make man realize his sinful state. The law is like a mirror. A mirror can show dirt on the face but it has no power to remove the dirt. So too is the law to show man he is a sinner but there is no power in the law to make anyone righteous before God.

The law demands perfect obedience, which no man in his weakened sinful state could ever completely obey. As James said, if a man obeyed all of the law but failed at just one point, then he is guilty of breaking all of the law. A law without a penalty is no law at all. The law would have no meaning. God’s penalty for sin is spiritual death.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Without Jesus There is No Peace

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P62 (09-08-20)

Synopsis

When we come to understand the love of God for us, His mercy and grace to us, how do we respond to that? Should that not form in us new attitudes of heart? How should that result in love in action, in how we act toward our brothers and sisters in Christ? When you are born again, you have been made into a new creation, the body of Christ, the church of the born again, the Ekklesia, the called out ones, of whom you are brothers and sisters to one another, with Christ Jesus as your head, your Counselor, your common Father.

When you think of a physical body with many parts, controlled by the head, how does that help you to understand how we are to function towards one another in love. Each body part is unique in function and no one part is considered more important than another, and each responds to the instructions of the head to operate properly. So too with the body of Christ. When you think of the spiritual body, and compare that with the physical body, how does that help you see what kind of attitudes we should have to each part of the body, our brothers and sisters in Christ?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

We Have Peace With God in Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P54 (08-19-20)

Synopsis

It is hard to understand the love of God when you see such prevalent evil all around, whether flaunted on television, presenting homosexuality as glorious, promoting a drag queen in teaching children in a library, or seeing people knocking down monuments, rioting in the city, and seemingly for no reason shoot a little boy in the head. So often people blame the wrong person for our problems, as in those who blame white supremacy or the police for our problems, and it seems God always gets the blame for something He never did.

The fact of the matter is that God is love. That depravity of man, that sin that is in man broke His heart. He knows what sin does to a person, to a city and to a country. It destroys all that He intended for man to be and have, to be able to respond to His love. No matter what the sin, whether a lie, worry, homosexual perversion or murder, it is sin. The root of all sin is unbelief in Jesus.

We were all born in unbelief, already under condemnation of sin and death.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith in Jesus Must be the Object of Faith

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P17 (05-26-20)

Synopsis

In this study on Faith, Hope and Love, we have looked into what faith is, what faith is not, and that there is misplaced faith, and then there is faith placed properly on what is true, and on the one who is the way, the truth and the life. This faith in Christ Jesus, who is God in the flesh, is the faith we are talking about. Now this truth is what men cannot grasp on their own. This truth must be revealed by the Spirit of God to the hearts of men.

Now, many times, people relegate faith to just this aspect of getting saved, but then so many people do not really understand what saved means. If you grew up never hearing the word “saved” then you might respond by saying, “What are you talking about? Saved from what?” Other people might have grown up in a denomination where the word “saved” was often heard. You might have heard someone say, “Come forward to get your sins forgiven?” So you come to think being saved is getting your sins forgiven, as if that is where you get righteousness.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
