What About 1 John 1:9

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P486 (10-25-19)

Synopsis

Bob George answers common questions asked by callers on forgiveness, woman pastors, and tithing. These questions come up very often today by many people. Many people do not understand the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, the difference between law and grace or even how to walk freely in grace. Bob answers these kinds of questions by several different callers.

A common question asked is, “Did God forgive me of all my sins? Why then did the Lord in Matthew 6 say that if you do not forgive your brother who sins against you, neither will He forgive you?” When people ask such questions, it is often because they do not understand the difference between the Old Covenant that Jesus taught under, to people living under an Old Covenant, with the New Covenant, to born again people today, who live by grace. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray under an Old Covenant. When Jesus spoke, he spoke to those who trusted in the law to be right with God. So Jesus spoke to bury us under the law that we might seek a Savior and be … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Understanding the New Covenant

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P477 (9-27-19)

Transcript

Nick from Loredo, TX

Nick: I was listening to someone preach the other day. He said you cannot be a cafeteria Christian. What he meant was that you cannot be a Christian that just picks and chooses scriptures and live accordingly. It is either all of the scripture or none of them.

Bob: Well, that is not true. You certainly do not want to be living under the Old Covenant when it has been replaced by the New Covenant. I do not know what his theology is. Let us take two scenarios. If he is saying that we are just as much under the Old Covenant as the New Covenant, then that person is out to lunch. If the Jews could not live under the Old Covenant, we cannot live under it either. That is why God came to replace the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant is obsolete, old and aging and will soon disappear. We do not live under the Old Covenant. We live under the New Covenant.

Hebrews 8:13
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated

Classic Christianity - Bible Studies - Victory Over Depression

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P455 (7-12-19)

Bob George RadioSo many people are in bondage due to error, whether from legalism or from false teaching or harsh, condemning words they believed to be true. Todd expressed the error he has heard from Baptist churches, that is really double talk, that only leads to being unstable in all your ways and living a defeated life. How can someone say you have to confess your sins to keep in fellowship with God and also say all your past, present and future sins have been forgiven? There is so much incorrect teaching from a poor translation of 1 John 1:9 and from passages in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, where people do not understand the difference between the Old Covenant that the Jews and Jesus lived under and the New Covenant that Jesus spoke about. Because of such error, people are living defeated lives and certainly not the abundant life Jesus promised. Salvation is also not properly taught or understood.

Here is the problem. We stopped at the cross for salvation. The cross does not save anyone. The resurrection is what saves you. The cross was preparatory for salvation. It … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Born Free

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P430 (4-11-19)

Bob George RadioBob George answered calls from several believers who wanted clarification of truth. There are many things people hear from the church world today. Oftentimes what they hear is confusing and contrary to what they have been reading in God’s word. There is a tendency to trust what a pastor says over what can clearly be revealed from God’s word. Remember, the Holy Spirit is your teacher and He will guide you into all truth. Take heed to His word.

Michael was puzzled about these parents who take their kids to psychologists to get treated for behavioral issues like attention deficit disorder. Where does that all come from. Bob tells people to go to the manufacturer. Who created our bodies and knows how we are made? God. Then go to God and find out about how our mind, will and emotions work. Yet, oftentimes, the first person we see is a psychologist, and more often than not, he does not even know the Lord. Why go to the ungodly for counsel?

Another caller, Martha, had such a sweet spirit about her. Being a new believer she wanted to learn. She had been … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Baptism and the Lords Supper

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P419 (3-01-19)

Bob George RadioBob George answers the common questions asked by people wanting to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several callers asked about baptism. What is the difference between water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Bob explained that the baptism that saves is faith in the resurrection in Jesus Christ. He explains how water baptism is a symbol of what happened when someone is born again spiritually and placed into the body of Christ. Water baptism does not place you in the body of Christ. Churches might teach that water baptism places you in their local body, but water baptism can take place anywhere and is a public testimony of someone’s spiritual birth, a visual picture of what Christ alone did for him. You go under the water identifying with Christ’s death and come out of the water symbolizing that you are made into a new creation in Christ. In water baptism, you are testifying as being a part of the body of Christ, by spiritual baptism, having put your faith in what Christ alone has done for you in His resurrection.
