What About 1 John 1:9

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P2 (05-26-21)

Synopsis

Do you realize you are under a New Covenant today? What exactly is the New Covenant? As you read the book of Hebrews, you come to realize that there was an Old Covenant of law that was replaced by a New Covenant of grace. A covenant, a testament and a will are synonyms. We are familiar with a will, that when someone’s death has been proven, then a will is read and whatever is in that will is executed so that whoever is named in that will receives what is written down. So too in the case of a will, testament, or covenant.

The Old Covenant required the sacrifice of the blood of bulls and goats to just cover sin. And under that covenant, a person was required to continue to do everything written in it, which included the ten commandments of God, and if you fail just once you are guilty of breaking all of the law. Only one person fulfilled that will, and that person was Jesus Christ. Since mankind could not keep the requirements of his will, God sent Jesus to do something man … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Works All Things Out for Our Good

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P621 (04-01-21)

Synopsis

Questions that come up quite frequently are questions in regard to tithing and various passages in the Old Testament. Questions like, “How does that passage apply to me today?” It doesn’t. The most prevalent question is in regard to tithing. “Am I robbing God when I do not tithe?” Absolutely not. If a person understood the New Covenant they are living under today, they would not need to ask such questions, for the answer would be very clear. These questions can easily be answered from the scriptures themselves, and anyone who has the Spirit of God living in Him, would then be able to discern the truth on these things.

First of all, to get a grasp of what the New Covenant is we live under today, the book of Hebrews is a book strongly encouraged that you read. There you will discover that the New Covenant replaced the Old Covenant. There is a new priest now, who is Christ Jesus, and there are no more sacrifices for sin, no more need to sacrifice bulls and goats anymore, and because of Jesus’ shed blood on a cross our sins will … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Repentance is a Change of Mind

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P615 (03-11-21)

Synopsis

Sometimes we get bogged down in our daily lives, being bombarded with legalism or teaching that just weighs us down. The day to day mundane things we do just seems to weigh us down at times. But to know that the time we ourselves get alone with the Lord, letting Him teach us the meaning of the word of God, and see the work God is doing in us. Then, as we simply share truth that has been revealed to us, that truth not only changes our own lives, but it overflows into the lives of others. That makes living so worthwhile.

Listen as Bob George shares with a young seminary student getting bogged down in his studies in theology that seems to distract him from being taught by the Holy Spirit. At times even, incorrect teaching is being told him, and he also feels this push towards legalism. Bob shares truth with him to help him to keep focused on being taught of the Holy Spirit. He reminds him of some basic foundational truths, on what salvation is, and clarification on the meaning of 1 John 1:9, and refers … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Has Taken Away Your Sins Once For All

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P614 (03-05-21)

Synopsis

What is the purpose of the book of Hebrews? Have you ever heard a sermon on it? It is so valuable to understand the New Covenant we are living under today. Oftentimes the only passage people have heard about from Hebrews are Hebrews 6:4, and without understanding the entire context of what the author of Hebrews is writing about, people get all fearful that they are deliberately sinning, meaning they have committed one of the nasty nine or one of the dirty dozen, that they are going to be cast into a raging fire. So what do people do? They pull out their 1 John 1:9 and ask God to forgive them of their sins.

First of all, one must understand the totality of the cross. When the Jew is going back to the day of atonement, killing a bull or a goat, to get his sins forgiven, or the Catholic is going to the confessional booth to get his sins forgiven, or the Protestant is going direct to God to get his sins forgiven, quoting 1 John 1:9 out of context, what are they doing? They are sinning against … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

We Were Reconciled to God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P612 (02-26-21)

Synopsis

Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. So, in many cases, a renewing of the mind has to occur so people can grab a hold of truth.

One of the questions asked in relation to the Lord’s prayer is this. Will God forgive us if we do not forgive someone who sins against us? People also often recite … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

What About 1 John 1:9

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P608 (02-12-21)

Synopsis

As you grow in knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, things you have heard before, but have not fully understood, because you were not taught correctly, you begin to understand. You begin to understand what God wants you to understand. Take the story of the prodigal son, for example. You once thought it was about a believer getting back into fellowship with God. But that cannot be true as you have come to understand the New Covenant of grace you are under today, and that the Spirit is sealed in you and will never leave you. You are either in fellowship, saved, or out of fellowship, lost. You will never find in scripture ever that someone goes in and out of fellowship.

When you think of the parable of the prodigal son, it is really a parable of the lost son, one who was dead and is now alive. It is a picture of someone who came alive. He left because he thought it would be more fun to listen to the voice of Satan than his father’s voice. In the story, he is a son of a father. He … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
