We Were Reconciled to God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P612 (02-26-21)

Synopsis

Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. So, in many cases, a renewing of the mind has to occur so people can grab a hold of truth.

One of the questions asked in relation to the Lord’s prayer is this. Will God forgive us if we do not forgive someone who sins against us? People also often recite this prayer as if this is a prayer we are to repeat over and over again.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P6 (02-17-21)

Synopsis

What conviction do you have that the scriptures are the word of God, are inerrant, and are applicable today as it was over 2000 years ago? Are the problems of man we face today in our lives, anxiety and depression, any different than back then, since the fall of mankind? Yes, we may have advanced technology that can cause more devastating destruction, but deep down is not the root cause of all the problems of man rely inside the heart of man? Do you think that God had a solution to our problems only in today’s world through psychology or philosophy, or that we have become so sophisticated, that we can solve our problems through science and psychology and relegate God to just our initial salvation, such as a guarantee of a new life after we die, but then He just leaves us alone for us to figure out and solve our problems on our own?

So what confidence do you have that God left us His word, the scriptures, as a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Jesus also identified Himself as the Light of the world.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P603 (01-29-21)

Synopsis

People of all walks of life have much in common. We are human, born dead spiritually and in need of new life. And when we come to new life in Christ Jesus, we need to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We at first feed on just the milk of the word until such a time we are ready for solid food. We learn about the unconditional love of God, that we are not under law, but under grace, that we live under a New Covenant now. We learn the foundational truth of the totality of the cross, our new identity as a child of God, of being made complete in Christ, that we are not under law but under grace, that we live under a New Covenant not an Old Covenant. We learn what walking under grace means. We learn what it means to have our minds renewed.

So listen as Bob George explains these foundational truths, about what baptism is, spiritual baptism that saves, not that of a physical baptism, that only removes dirt from the body. He helps believers stay away from false teachers, those that teach a false prosperity gospel, explaining truth out of 1 Timothy 6 that those false teachers have a perverse mind, teaching that godliness is a means to financial gain.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Baptism and the Lords Supper

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P602 (01-28-21)

Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A very good example of this is the false practice of confessing your sins before taking the Lord’s supper so as to not be taking the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner. Another example is this teaching that there is an age of accountability for salvation, that if you are under a certain age then you are not accountable to God for sin. That kind of question is in the same category as asking the question, “What about the heathen that has never heard?” And another question that often comes up is in regard to this supposed movie projection in heaven that presumably everyone’s sins will be projected so that all people and even angels will see. That simply is not true. There is no basis for that from the clear understanding of the gospel, with passages that clearly explain that He will remember our sins no more and there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Said to the Father Forgive Them

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P40 (01-25-21)

Synopsis

When you think of all the prophecies that were said regarding Christ Jesus, as spoken by the prophets, and that all was fulfilled that was written concerning Him in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, and then, if you were one of His disciples on earth, you hear what Jesus said in regard to His soon resurrection, what do you suppose your response would be? Jesus said to them, “I will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock me, insult me and spit on me; I will be flogged and then killed. On the third day, I will rise again.”

Like all of us, we hear, but do not understand, and fail to believe. Why is it that we are so slow and hard of heart to believe all that Jesus has done and said? Can you not believe based on the miracles themselves? And the greatest miracles of all is the resurrection. Historians and archaeologists and various researchers have studied the resurrection and the empty tomb. There is no doubt the resurrection occurred. Not only that, we read in 1 Corinthians that he appeared to over five hundred people, who saw him after his resurrection and who then walked on the earth for a period of forty days, before he went back again to His Father, where He is now sitting at the right hand of God.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Timing is Everything With Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P38 (01-19-21)

Synopsis

A topic that often comes up is praying for healing, as we hear about these so-called healing ministries. As difficult as it is to see a loved one paralyzed or maimed, it is still not our place to heal at will. God is the one in authority over all things, and He also did not heal everyone. For example, He did not heal those in his hometown and marveled at their lack of faith. Then there is this faulty idea that if I had enough faith then this or that person would be healed. That is so damaging, this teaching, causing people so much heartbreak and pain.

There is this improper emphasis on my faith, or on me, to do something. But faith is in the person of Jesus Christ. This faith is expressed through a child of God, in a dynamic, relational faith in Christ, through someone who knows God and is operating on the basis of what is true. This faith is a trust in the will of he Father just as Jesus had.

Jesus is the perfect example of what it means to walk in faith.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
